2026 ALCS Dutch Summer School
The 2026 ALCS Dutch Summer School takes place at University College London from 28 June until 4 July 2026. The theme of our 5th edition is 'Meerstemmige steden'.
A summer course is a great opportunity to give your language learning a boost and put the language skills you have acquired into practice with other learners. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner, join us for a week of language classes, cultural excursions and Low Countries related workshops! Places are limited, on a first come first served basis, and priority will be given to applicants enrolled or planning on enrolling in a Dutch language programme at a UK institution.

Sheffield 18 July 2024
As part of our 75 Years of Dutch, we welcomed the ALCS Summer School at Sheffield. Twenty-four students from all over the UK, five language tutors, four guests and many excursions all packed into an exciting week of hard work.
UCL houses the oldest centre for Dutch Studies (Neerlandistiek) in the English-speaking world. Founded in 1919, it was the first of its kind in the UK.
With around eighty students on our courses, Dutch Studies at Sheffield is the largest - and probably the most lively - Dutch Studies section in the UK.
Jenny Watson teaches Dutch for Beginners at the University of Edinburgh, a one-year course intended for committed students with little or no previous knowledge of Dutch.
Introduces students to the Dutch language both in its written and spoken form. By the end of the course students will be able to speak and write in Dutch to roughly between GCSE and A-level standard.
