The ALCS Postgraduate Colloquium brings together postgraduate and early-career researchers from the UK, Ireland, and beyond. Usually held in London or Sheffield, often with the Institute of Modern Languages Research, it supports Dutch studies by inspiring emerging scholars. The event provides a platform to meet, present, and discuss research, with papers eligible for the ALCS Prize or publication in Dutch Crossing.

In the heat of the London summer, over twenty postgraduate and early career researchers from the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany attended the Postgraduate Colloquium on Low Countries studies: Drawing a map.
UCL houses the oldest centre for Dutch Studies (Neerlandistiek) in the English-speaking world. Founded in 1919, it was the first of its kind in the UK.
With around eighty students on our courses, Dutch Studies at Sheffield is the largest - and probably the most lively - Dutch Studies section in the UK.
Jenny Watson teaches Dutch for Beginners at the University of Edinburgh, a one-year course intended for committed students with little or no previous knowledge of Dutch.
